THE ACADEMIC SIDE INDEPENDENT STUDY/LAB BASED CORE CURRICULUM
ONLINE LEARNING
The Joshua Tree Arts & Technology Academy’s (JTATA) curriculum will utilize Edmentum’s award-winning courseware for students’ core Independent Study classwork. Edmentum is a high-quality, standards-based, online learning company grounded in a tradition of solid research, sound pedagogy, and applied innovation. This provides rigorous, relevant curriculum that challenges students with a 21st century approach – engaging them with interactive, media-rich content.
Whether falling behind, at grade level, or advanced, the Common Core aligned curriculum accommodates each student’s unique needs in an environment designed to help them thrive. The online courses will be used by students in their home or in the JTATA computer lab setting in a blended model in which online courses are supplemented by related elective offerings such as Shakespearean Literature, Comparative Studies, and Geometric Construction. Additionally, students will have a dedicated on-site teacher who will help oversee their studies through weekly follow-ups, tutoring, and parent meetings.
Provides courses in a wide range of core subjects, electives, world languages, honors, and Advanced Placement® offerings.
Courses consist of integrated assessments; including exemptive pretests that allow learners to forgo content they have already mastered and focus on the concepts that need additional work. Course-level assessments also include tests for each course module to ensure concept mastery.

Edmentum’s Plato Courseware is an approved course provider by the University of California (UC) “a-g” program. Plato’s broad range of rigorous and engaging courses are grounded in a tradition of solid research, sound pedagogy, and applied innovation.
EdOptions Academy partners with schools and districts to deliver rigorous, research-based, and pedagogically sound curriculum paired with state-certified teachers. Our fully-accredited virtual school solution allows schools and districts to enhance, expand, and extend their program offerings.

The Hi-Desert Cultural Center leadership is petitioning to open the new Joshua Tree Arts & Technology Academy (JTATA) public charter school to bring an unprecedented first-class performing/visual arts and technology education to youth in the Hi-Desert region.
Featuring graduates and educators from the Idyllwild Arts Academy, University of Southern California, Manhattan School of Music, American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and other prestigious institutions, JTATA’s class offerings will bring previously unavailable educational opportunities to a wide range of subjects focusing specifically on the fine arts and technology and aligned with the CA Visual and Performing Arts Content Standards.
